I have always loved books ever since I learnt to read. The sort of person who would look at an instruction manual if there were nothing else available. Not that that has happened too often - I have tottering piles of books not to mention e books. I will read almost anything as l long as it holds my interest. Besides books. I love music, photography, cryptic crosswords and playing Fitz 1 & 2 games.
The Painted Ocean - Gabriel Packard

Everything starts going wrong for Struti when she's 11 and her mother dumps her in preparation for an arranged marriage in India. The first part of the book is fine as we feel Struti's desperation and bewilderment, but the second part is crazy and so far fetched that it's hard to take any of it seriously as she makes daft decision after daft decision. Plus I absolutely hate the expression "I was like" and there were so many "was likes" that it drove me to distraction. I wish I could have enjoyed this book more as it sounded excellent, but the second half made this impossible.
